Surface Panel Characteristics

Panel Material and Fabrication Methods
The exterior side surface panels for a Master Door are chosen based on desired appearance and the expected weather conditions they will experience. Any panel material may be used for the interior side surface panels.
The characteristics for each of the surface panel materials are shown below. A guide, Read more -> Legend, is provided at the bottom of this page to illustrate the Icons that represent panel material types and acceptable panel environment exposures.
WOOD VENEER AND FLAT LAMINATE PANELS – 6 MM (Approx. 1/4″) THICK
Wood Veneer and Flat Laminate Panels finish layer is mounted on particle board base.
Interior applications only.
MARINE GRADE, MULTI-LAYER WOOD PANELS FLAT OR VERTICALLY MILLED PANELS – 8 MM (Approx. 5/16″) THICK
Marine grade multi-layer wood is very durable, with high resistance to humidity and salinity. These features make it an excellent choice for external exposure. The laminated wood layers are glued with heat and moisture resistant adhesives giving the wood exceptional strength and water resistance. Interior and Exterior applications.
ALUMINUM OR STEEL – 13.5 MM (Approx. 1/2″) THICK
Aluminum or Steel layer laminated to an MDF panel core using a heat and moisture resistant adhesive. Interior and Exterior applications.
STANDARD AND MARINE GRADE, MULTI-LAYER WOOD ROUTED AND ENGRAVED PANELS – 12, 14 AND 18 MM (Typical 11/16″) THICK
Panels are fabricated with wood veneer and parallel fiber layers that are assembled using heat and moisture resistant adhesives. These panels offer excellent value compared to solid hardwoods, and provide outstanding durability when used in exterior exposures. Interior and Exterior applications.
WATERPROOF HDF or MOISTURE RESISTANT MDF – ROUTED OR ENGRAVED, PRIMER PAINTED OR FINISH PAINTED WITH ACRYLIC COATING – 12 or 18 MM (Approx. 7/16″ to 11/16″) THICK
Primer Painted or Painted (RAL colors) with Acrylic coating, Waterproof and Moisture Resistant HDF or MDF panels. Interior and Exterior applications.
SOLID HARDWOOD PANELS MADE FROM SOLID AND EMBOSSED WOODS – 20 MM (Approx. 3/4″) THICK
These panels are constructed with a solid hardwood base and embossed hardwood designs. Interior and Exterior applications.
INSULATED PANELS – 26 MM (Approx. 1″) THICK
These panels are constructed using multi-layer wood and an internal polystyrene insulation layer. The surface design is engraved by a milling machine. Interior and Exterior applications.
CERAMIC 6 MM (Approx. 1/4″) THICK
Ceramic layer laminated to an MDF base. Interior and Exterior applications.
STAMPED WOOD 6 MM (Approx. 1/4″) THICK
Panels with a stamped wood surface laminated to an MDF base. Interior applications only.
